Our paperback book this month is the first in an Indian-inspired duology from a debut author. Our Illumicrate edition features an entirely redesigned, naked hardback cover with gorgeous foiling details, digitally printed edges, and is signed by the author! Our hardback book for January is This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi! We were swept away by Tahereh’s gorgeous prose, utterly obsessed with the relationship between Alizeh and Kamran, and captivated by this Persian-inspired world. This month we’re focusing on royalty with something to hide, and we’re kicking off 2022 in style with a two book box! Our January 2022 theme is: Royal Secrets! What do you think of this edition? I thought the original cover was pretty but I’m glad I’ve got the Illumicrate edition. This unboxing contains spoilers! Theme of the box The book also comes with an art print/author letter and it’s so pretty. This edition is signed too, which I’m very pleased about. Tahereh Mafi is the author of Shatter Me, one of my absolute favourite series so I have high hopes for This Woven Kingdom. It’s a beautiful, beautiful edition and I really hope I like the story. The stencilled edges are stunning and I love how it all matches. I said last month I wasn’t sure if I’d continue with my subscription or not but I definitely will if Illumicrate continues with more editions like this. It’s a naked hardcover with a completely redesigned cover and beautiful gold and silver foiling. They really went all out on the customisations and I can only hope we have more like this to come. Illumicrate is off to a fantastic start because I am blown away by how beautiful this edition is. The January book is This Woven Kingdom by Tahereh Mafi and just look at how stunning it is. It looks interesting and I’m looking forward to reading it. Now onto the main book for this month! Inside the cover we have the digital signature and a message from the author. I like how it has the two sisters on the front and the two brothers on the back.Īs you can see, the sprayed edges match the blue foiling on the cover and I do really love the royal blue they’ve picked. I definitely prefer it to the original cover. The yellow cover really makes the blue foiling pop.

I must say, the choice of colours is fantastic.

The paperback choice this month is The Ivory Key by Akshaya Raman and this edition has a digital signature, as well as an exclusive cover and sprayed edges. Illumicrate has done this a few times and I’ve only heard good things about the previous boxes so I’m looking forward to reading the paperback choice for this month’s box. Also, it’s my first time receiving a box with two books. I was very excited to get my hands on this because it’s one of my most anticipated reads for the year and the customisations sounded fantastic. Hey guys! Today I’ll be unboxing Illumicrate’s January book.
